Marjorie Ann "Margie" Deutsch (née Lyngholm), age 85, passed away on January 7, 2026. Born on December 21, 1940, at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Loren Oliver and Elva Marie Lyngholm. Margie grew up in St. Paul and Duluth, graduating on the honor roll from Central High School in 1959.

On June 29, 1963, Margie married Manfred Dieter Deutsch, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage until his death in 2016. In 1964 they built a home in New Hope, where they raised their two children, Peter and Lisa, and lived for 56 years before Margie moved to the Calvary Center Cooperative in 2020.

Margie earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and later obtained an AAS Diploma Certificate in Electronic Publishing from North Hennepin Technical College. She worked as a substitute teacher in District 281. She spent over 20 years as a sales associate and assistant manager at Sears in Ridgedale, a role that allowed her the flexibility to care for her aging parents.

Margie's life was defined by service and leadership. A devoted member of Valley Community Presbyterian Church since 1965, she served as an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent. Her contributions were vast, ranging from delivering "Dinner at your Door" for 40 years to writing and directing worship services and Christmas dinners. She served as a weekly volunteer for the Minnesota Genealogical Society for 18 years and held leadership roles with the Germanic American Institute and the Pommern Regional Group.

Margie visited Germany a total of 14 times. During these trips, she visited friends and family, explored museums and historical sites, and researched her family history. In addition to her frequent travels to Germany, she and Manfred explored China, Norway, England, the Soviet Union, Australia and New Zealand.

Margie is survived by her children, Peter (Ronda) Deutsch and Lisa Deutsch (Jeff Wepplo); grandchildren, Joel (Caroline) Deutsch and Greta Deutsch; and siblings, Roger Lyngholm and Karen Limoseth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manfred.

Memorials are preferred to Valley Community Presbyterian Church, the Minnesota Genealogical Society, or the Germanic American Institute.
