Marlene Carol Oberg

Marlene (Nelson) Oberg, 92, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026.

Marlene was born in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota, where she met her husband, Gary. Married for over 60 years, Marlene and Gary were a model of a loving marriage and a healthy lifestyle. Together, they enjoyed golf, tennis, Gopher sports, and social events at Minnesota Valley Country Club. She loved hosting family weekends at their cabin on Lake Sylvia, filled with sports, board games, and tubs of peanut butter M&M cookies. Later in life, Marlene relished time with friends, including weekly bridge and mahjong games. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, kindness, and elegance.

Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. Gary Oberg; her daughter Dr. Jan Frederick; her sister Jean Kolander; and her parents Yvonne and Richard Nelson. She is survived by her daughter Karen; son Paul; son-in-law Dan; grandchildren Lauren (Aaron), Kevin (Marie), Brad, and Marjie; and eight great-grandchildren: Julia, Zelie, Robert, Jude, Luke, Lasalette, Gemma, and Cabrini. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Gary, Jan, and the loved ones who went before her.

The memorial service for Marlene will be held on Thursday October 15 at 1PM at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel 3960 Wooddale Ave S, St Louis Park, MN 55416. Visitation one hour prior.
