Mike, 72, of Plymouth, MN passed away peacefully on November 2, 2026, at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, following a brief but courageous battle with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare and devastating brain infection caused by the JC virus.

Born on June 5, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska, Mike was the first child of Dr. James and Rosemarie Mailliard. Mike grew up in Omaha and attended Creighton Preparatory School and Creighton University, graduating from Creighton University School of Law in 1979.

Mike married Addie on July 15, 1978, in Columbus, Nebraska. They shared 48 wonderful years of marriage, living first in Omaha, then moving to Minnesota in 1983. Throughout his professional career, Mike held positions as a tax accountant at Northern Liquid Fuels in Omaha, then at Pillsbury in Minneapolis for many years and at Multiband Corporation for several years, before retiring.

Mike enjoyed many sports and was an avid Cornhusker football fan. Mike was a runner for many years, starting in high school and continuing to run marathons in Omaha, Twin Cities, and Grandma’s in Duluth. Completing those marathons was among his proudest accomplishments.

Above all, Mike cherished time spent with his family and friends. A devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather, he had an incredible sense of humor and a gift for making those around him laugh. Mike never missed an opportunity to enjoy a happy hour with the people he loved. His laughter, warmth, and the countless memories he created will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Addie; son Michael and daughter Christina; Michael’s wife, Anna and Christina’s husband, David Robey; brothers Mark and Jim; sisters Kathy and Lisa, and cherished grandchildren Liam and Nora Mailliard. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James Mailliard and Rosemarie Morbach Mailliard.

A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 4:00-7:00 PM at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 15800 37th Avenue North, Plymouth, MN. Visitation will also take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Basilica of Saint Mary, Saint Joseph Chapel, 88 North 17th Street, Minneapolis, MN. Mass of Christian Burial following visitation at 10:30 AM in Saint Joseph Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Clinic in Mike’s memory. The family wishes to thank all Mike’s caregivers at Mayo Clinic, Mayo Methodist Hospital, and North Memorial Medical Center for their care, kindness, and support. Arrangements are under the care of Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel in Plymouth, MN.
