Nancy Louise Lane Reusswig, 91, passed away peacefully Feb. 7, 2026, at Arbor Lakes Senior Living in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
Born June 4, 1934, in New Haven, Connecticut, Nancy grew up in a loving family and later moved to Canterbury, Connecticut, during her high school years. She graduated first in her class from Norwich Free Academy and later magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.
Nancy met the love of her life, William "Nort" Norton Reusswig, at an Amherst College mixer. They were married Nov. 10, 1956, in Norwich, Connecticut, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted more than six decades. In 1960, Nancy and Nort relocated to the Albany, New York, area, settling in Glenmont, where they raised their three children, Peter, Cynthia ("Cindi") and David.
Nancy was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Delmar, New York, where she sang joyfully in the choir. A gifted pianist, she continued playing until just months before her passing. After raising her children, Nancy earned a paralegal degree and enjoyed a 15-year career as an editor with The Ayco Corp. in Albany.
In retirement, Nancy and Nort moved to Slingerlands, New York, where they enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren. They traveled extensively, fulfilling Nancy's lifelong dream of seeing as much of the world as possible. She also volunteered as a literacy tutor. After Nort's death in 2017, Nancy moved to Beverwyck in Slingerlands, where she continued to enjoy playing the piano, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. In 2022, she moved to Arbor Lakes Senior Living in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where she was able to spend time with her great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, George Hugh Lane and Emily Apgar Lane; her husband, William Norton Reusswig; her son, Peter Norton Reusswig; her brother, Leman George Lane; her grandson, Tyler Corwin Reusswig; and her sisters-in-law, Christine Reusswig and Onelia Lane.
She is survived by two children, Cynthia Lane Reusswig Scheffler (Guy) and David Lee Reusswig (Elizabeth); six grandchildren, Andrew William Scheffler (Marie), Michael Lane Scheffler (Alisa), Nicholas Kellen Scheffler (Sabrina), Blake William Reusswig, Emily Elizabeth Reusswig and Sophie Miller Reusswig; four great-grandchildren, Adrian Mary Scheffler, Vincent Guy Scheffler, Elsie Grace Scheffler and Morielle Melody Scheffler; and Emy Reusswig, the mother of her grandson Blake Reusswig.
Nancy will be remembered for her smile, empathy, intelligence, grace, musical talent, generosity, deep love of family and steadfast warmth of spirit. Her memory lives on in all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at St Edwards Episcopal Church, 865 Ferndale Rd, Wayzata, MN 55391 on Saturday February 21 at 2PM. A memorial and interment service will also be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Delmar, NY, to be announced at a later time.
