Listen to Obituary

Nancy was born to Jack and Leona Wetsch on September 23, 1961. She was the baby of the family (“well loved, not spoiled… well maybe spoiled!”) with three older siblings, Kathy, Dave and Linda. She was a reluctant school starter and had to go home for lunch with mom and dad at the beginning but eventually loved school and was an excellent student. She attended Dowling High School and was involved in band, playing the flute, and enjoyed softball. As most of the family knows, she loved collecting giraffes, no matter how odd they looked! She graduated from University of Northern Iowa and was very proud that she passed her Certified Public Accountant Boards on her first try!

After graduation she moved to Minneapolis to pursue a career in accounting and worked for various firms including the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Norwest Bank, Lampert Yards and then many years with Price Waterhouse Cooper, retiring as Director of Finance. She met her future husband Mark in Minneapolis, and they enjoyed evenings of softball, friends and music concerts. They were married in 1988. The following year they built their own home in Plymouth, putting in long hours painting and staining and whatever needed to be done. Nancy was overjoyed to take on the title of “Mom” when they welcomed son Scott, and daughter Megan, into their family. Being a mom and then a grandma was the highlight of her life, and she was active in their school and extracurricular activities. Mom was always in the front row cheering them on. When the children were small, Nancy and Mark bought a cabin on Lake Namekagon in northern Wisconsin. The cabin was their Happy Place, and she enjoyed fishing with Mark, pontoon rides and watching the kids in “the circle of death” tubing fun! In 2021 the family welcomed grandson Adonis (“Donny”) into their lives and life was never the same! Giggles and hugs were always available when Megan brought Donny to Grandma’s house.

Mark and Nancy enjoyed going to the Packer’s games and country music concerts. In addition she loved to plant flowers, grow tomatoes and assemble puzzles. One of her great joys in life was downhill skiing and she always helped plan the winter family ski weekend in the UP. In her retirement years she also volunteered at PRISM Food shelf, performed with the handbell group at church, and continued to catch the big sunnies off her dock in WI. She often traveled with her sister-in-law Mary to fun get aways including the Biltmore mansion and Savannah. She frequently traveled to Des Moines to visit her Mom and her brother’s family. She enjoyed day trips and activities with her sisters and attended many special occasions for the great nieces and nephews. She loved family!

Life was cut too short for her, and she will be missed and loved forever. She said she was eager to meet her dad in heaven and will be waiting there to see us all again.

Nancy will be forever in the hearts of her husband, Mark; children, Scott and Megan; grandson, Adonis (“Donny”); mother, Leona Wetsch; siblings, Linda (Doug Johnson) Spotts, David (Sue) Wetsch, Kathleen (Matthew) Olsen; sister-in-law Mary Szeklinski; nieces and nephews: Sara Cape, Lisa (Alan) Shi, Katie (Mark) Thompson, Amy (Matt) Yuska, Chris Olsen, Emma Olsen and Brad Szeklinski; great nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Eliana, Claire, Kai, Caden, Wesley, Remy, Bodhi, Jack, and Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Wetsch.
