Nathanial Paul Heflin, age 49, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in Minneapolis, MN, just seven weeks after being diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer.
Nate was born on April 14, 1976, in Baltimore, MD to Carol and Ronald Heflin, making a surprise entrance just three minutes after his identical twin brother, Matthew.
He graduated from Connecticut College in 1998, where he majored in zoology and minored in chemistry and history. After a brief stint working in technical theatre, where he met his future wife, Nate worked for 25 years in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, most recently as Quality Assurance Operations Manager at LTS Therapy Systems in St. Paul.
Nate married Adriane Mara Levy Heflin on April 2, 2005, under a glass dome in Minneapolis, MN. Together they raised their family in the Twin Cities. Married for 20 years, they enjoyed caring for their children, spending time with friends, doing house projects, and solving NYTimes word puzzles together.
Nate was a loving and loyal husband who adored his children. A true caretaker, he nurtured everyone around him. He was an avid reader, never without his Kindle. Nate enjoyed gaming with friends, building computers, archery, and collecting guitars and guitar pedals. Famous for his punny t-shirts, he took dad jokes to a new level.
Nathanial is survived by his wife Adriane Mara Levy Heflin; his children Maxwell Levy Heflin, 18, and Juliet Levy Heflin, 14; his mother Carol Lea Kimmel Heflin and grandmother Elaine Schmidt; his father and step-mother Ronald Joseph Heflin and Lisa Sue Heflin; his twin brother Matthew David Heflin; his sister-in-law April Kristina Muse, nephew Logan Allen Muse Heflin and niece Aurora Lea Muse; his step-brother and sister-in-law Sean Davidson and Kim Davidson; and nephew and niece Owen Davidson and Hope Davidson. He was predeceased by his step-brother Scott Davidson.
Nate will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to a cancer research charity or arts organization of your choice.
