Trebtoske, Peter Paul
Age 92, of South Saint Paul, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026.
Peter dedicated 34 years of his life to serving others as a social worker with Catholic Charities. Throughout his career, he provided marriage and family counseling, served as Director of the Dorothy Day Center for people experiencing homelessness in St. Paul, and held many other roles focused on compassion, advocacy, and care for those in need.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Marie Trebtoske and Julie Lynn Trebtoske; grandchildren, Bronte (Dan) Pund, Aaron Metzger, Samantha Trebtoske, Christian Metzger, and Shiloh Kenney; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and those whose lives he touched.
Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susannah; children, Gregory Paul Trebtoske and Alicia Ann Metzger; grandson, Jack Trebtoske; parents, Peter and Frances Trebtoske; and his five siblings.
Peter and the meaning and action of LOVE were synonymous. His love for his family and his faith in God guided everything he did. He married his soulmate, Sue, in 1961, and she remained the love of his life. He took immense pride in caring for his daughter who lives with Muscular Dystrophy, and dedicated much of his life to supporting charities and organizations connected to individuals with disabilities. Their relationship came full circle when she lovingly cared for him during the final chapter of his life.
Peter loved traveling with his dear friends and treasured time spent at his cabin in Cumberland, Wisconsin, where countless memories were made. He and Sue hosted an annual golf tournament at the cabin, bringing together friends and family for years of laughter, connection, and joy. Peter proudly served in the Army, volunteered with incarcerated individuals, enjoyed silent retreats, and was deeply involved in his church, the Basilica of Saint Mary.
Above all, Peter loved people. He welcomed individuals from all walks of life with kindness, dignity, and respect. His compassion, faith, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
