Roma Jeanne (Postle) Krause Egli passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Roma was raised by her parents, Roman and Patricia Postle; and grandmother, Eva Murray.

The oldest of four children, she was preceded in death by her brothers Jim and Mike; her sister-in-law, Pat; and her sons-in-law, Gerry Balder and Marc Valeri. She is survived by her brother Dale; and sisters-in-law, JoAnne and Diane.

Roma married Leonard Krause, and together they raised their four daughters: Lorri, Eva, Carla and Barbara, in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. In 1984, she moved to Maryland, where she later married Keith Egli.

A feminist and loving mother, Roma raised her daughters to be strong, independent women. She also built an impressive career of her own, beginning in Minneapolis as an inspector with the Food and Drug Administration and ultimately retiring from the FDA in Gaithersburg, MD as an administrator.

Roma had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. A thoughtful listener, she offered compassionate advice and took a genuine interest in everyone she met. She was a liberal thinker who believed deeply in justice and equality for all people.

Her greatest passion was reading and she coveted her daily newspaper. Roma loved all things different or new; BABIES, travel, food, animals, modern home decor, new shoes, bright colors and fancy cars -- though she was too frugal to buy one for herself. If there was something on your plate she hadn't tried before, it was not safe from her fork! Every time she looked at the sky Roma would say, in sincere awe, "I have never seen a cloud like that before". Her curiosity, acute observations and appreciation for the unexpected made for many delightful memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.

By far, Roma's greatest pride was her "legacy": her children, Lorri Balder, Eva Krause, Carla (Joe) Gorman, and Barbara Valeri; her grandchildren, Christine (Christian Cabezas) Balder, Kyle (Lulu) Balder, Cameron (Darcy) Balder, Courtney (Chris) French, Cara (Tyler) Vaughn, and Anthony (Madison) Valeri; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Vivienne, Brooks, Evan, Elaina, Gordy, Rory, River, Lily and Rowan.

Roma requested a green burial and will be laid to rest in a private service at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life and share stories at a reception held at Talamore Senior Living, 289 Karen Drive, Woodbury, MN. on Saturday, October 17, from 1:30-4p.m.
