Russ was able to spend his final days surrounded by family and friends. Russ passed away on Feb. 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by father Verle; mother Donna Marie; and sister Roberta. He is survived by wife, Karla; sons Benjamin (Kerrie) and their children Wes, Theo, and Mabel; and Joseph (Stacy) and their children Evie, Lena and Simon; and many friends and relatives. Russ graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1971 and continued his education at the University of Minnesota. He then joined the City of Robbinsdale, where he retired as the Parks and Recreation Director. Russ brought joy to and was loved by everyone who knew him. He lit up every occasion with his infectious laugh and big hugs. We treasure the memories and happiness that he brought into our lives. Many thanks to cousin Jeff and the Brighton staff for the excellent end of life care.
A private memorial service will be held at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37 th Avenue North. The livestream of Russ's service will be available on this site starting at 1 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 and for 90 days thereafter. A graveside burial will take place in the spring at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mount Olivet Lutheran Church of Plymouth.
Livestream of the service will be available beginning at 1 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 16th, and will remain on this site for 90 days.
