Scott N. Lavold of Plymouth, MN passed away July 28, 2025 at age 80. Scott is survived by Pat, his wife of 57 years; daughter, Laura (Eric) Ecklund and children, Lars, Annika & Hans; daughter, Kari (Joe) Ramstrom and children, Lowell & Chloe. Scott said, to have children was the best decision that he and Pat made together.
He attended Wauwatosa East HS in Wisconsin, earned a BA degree in Mathematics from Ripon College in WI and his MBA from University of Iowa. Scott served 3 years in the US Navy during which he attended the Navy Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI, then assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency in Arlington, VA.
Scott was hired by IDS in Mpls. in 1972 as a computer programmer/project manager and remained with the company for 30 years retiring as VP of Technology in 2002. He played softball on the same IDS Old Coders team 25 years.
Upon retirement he began an 18-year volunteer career with Wayzata-Plymouth Meals-On-Wheels. He had a passion for universal health care, social justice, strict gun control and climate change.
Scott and Pat travelled and trekked to all parts of the US, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Central & South America, Western Europe, Turkey, India, Nepal, China, and New Zealand. Photography was his passion and he took 1000’s of pictures. College football and baseball where his ‘passive passions’ that he enjoyed his entire life. He would like to be remembered for his consistent values, dedication to his family and his generosity of time and money.
A Celebration of Scott’s Life will held on Saturday, October 4th outdoors at Plymouth Community Center Millennium Garden 14800 34th Avenue North, Plymouth, MN. A service of remembrance and sharing will begin at 11:00 am. Visitation from 10:30 am - 11:00 am.
