age 60, died surrounded by her children, Jacqueline and George, on Friday, May 16th, 2025.
Suz spent her winters in southern Louisiana, with the Oliviers - the southern branch of the Ramier Family. Suz desperately wanted to return home in May to see family and friends. She endured the 21-hour road trip from one end of the Mississippi to the other. She made it home and passed peacefully six hours later. Suz spent her childhood growing up in Southwest Minneapolis. She loved to swim, bike, and run! She was always up for a bike ride - especially when it involved stopping for ice cream. She attended St. Thomas the Apostle grade school and Benilde St. Margaret’s for high school. The only one of us eight kids to go to the same high school for all four years. It is there where she made lifelong friends and enjoyed playing basketball. Suz loved everything tiny - especially little people. She spent many nights babysitting in high school and went on to study Elementary Education at St. Catherine University. For many years, she worked as a Montessori teacher, a Waldorf teacher, and a substitute in the public schools.
As much as she liked to teach, she loved even more to spend time with her children. Jacqueline and George were the joy of her life. Suz packed both kids' lunches every day, always filling their bellies with healthy food. She’d go shopping with Jacqueline, and they’d rarely purchase anything, but instead, they’d window shop, drink tea, and laugh until they cried. With George, she’d help with homework, play backgammon or Parcheesi, have long chats, and support him through every mountain and valley in life. Those two were the best of friends, and they have a bond that can never be broken. She taught her kids to be creative, goofy, accepting, but, most of all, kind.
As a young adult, Suz loved to go work at her cousins’ fishing camp in Canada. She’d get into good trouble up there! She cherished walks in the woods with her family behind her house in Long Lake. Suz loved a good dumpster dive, a garage sale, or a good freebie. She was never materialistic but loved a good find and would typically regift her treasures to family or friends. Suz was non-traditional in so many ways - in a world that pushes hard for conformity, this exemplifies her courage to maintain her sense of self and down-to-earth values. Suz loved a good book, knitting, and all art projects. She loved to preach healthy food, but, ironically, her specialty was chocolate chip cookies. Her life was devoted to her kids and her family. If you ever needed anything done, Suz would have already started it before you could even ask. She was very hardworking, thoughtful, and generous with her time for others - even in her illness, she had the energy for projects and adventure. She was a friend to many, an amazing Mom, and above all else, kind. Nous vous aimons, Suz.
Suz was preceded in death by her dad, George, her brother, Bobby, and her brother-in-law, Jon. She is survived by her kids Jacqueline (Nick) and George, her husband, Richard, her mother, Eleanor, her sisters, Peggy (Brian), and Michelle, and her brothers Dan (Ange), Tim (Pia), Joe (Mary), and Tom, and many nieces and nephews.
