IN LOVING MEMORY OF THERESA KOVACOVICH
age 96 of Brooklyn Park, passed away on November 30, 2025.
Survived by her children Carol Jacobson, Mark Kovacovich (Robyn), Donald Kovacovich (April), and Joan Kovacovich (Juan Carlos Ordóñez); daughter-in-law Dawn Kovacovich; and her grandchildren Kristin (Ben Davenport), Mary, Scott, Laura, Katie, Charles (Ashly Larson), Brad, Anthony, Lucas, and Lucia. She is also survived by her sister Rosemary Schultz, her brother Edwin John Stoffel, her sister-n-law Rachael Stoffel, and her brothers-n-law Vince Pixley and Ed Dion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Roddy Kovacovich; her son Michael Kovacovich; son-in-law David Jacobson; and granddaughter Jennifer Kovacovich.
Theresa grew up on a farm outside Pine City, Minnesota, the sixth of eleven children of Rose and Henry Stoffel. In her later years, she loved sharing stories about her childhood on the farm and attending a one-room schoolhouse, where many of her classmates were also her siblings. After high school, she moved to Minneapolis and shared an apartment with her sisters Dolores, Eileen, and Rosemary. It was there that she met her future husband, Roddy, at Glenwood Hills Hospital, where she worked as a nurse and he as an orderly. They were married on June 16, 1951. After the birth of their daughter Carol, she left nursing to focus on raising their family.
Family was always at the center of Theresa's life. She devoted herself to raising her five children and enjoyed every opportunity to gather for holidays and special occasions. In addition to her own family, she was also very close to her mother-in-law and sister-in-law Ann. In her later years, nothing brought her more joy than a visit from one of her grandchildren.
Theresa's faith was deeply important to her. She devoted countless hours to volunteering at St. Austin Catholic Church in North Minneapolis, helping with funerals, rummage sales, and craft fairs. She loved to read, crochet, and sew, and she and her sister-in-law Ann spent many hours creating items for the annual Christmas Holiday Bazaar.
The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received both from the staff at St. Therese of Oxbow Lake and from Brighton Hospice.
