Timothy Vincent Mauren

Timothy V. Mauren passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2026 with family by his side. He is survived by his wife Patricia (nee Mathiowetz), daughter (Gabrielle), son-in-law (Matthew) and granddaughter (Zoe).

Tim ("Red") grew up in the northeast Minneapolis, attending St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School and DeLaSalle High School before setting off to the University of Notre Dame.  (Go Irish!) His natural athleticism had him staring in multiple sports, but his gifts particularly shone in baseball. He was known for his left-handed hitting and notable speed on the bases.

Tim met Pat in 1965 at a DeLaSalle dance, and they were an item immediately after that first night together. They married in 1970 and had their only child in 1977. Their love and dedication to each other was clear to anyone who interacted with them. Always a team through life's successes, difficulties, and the mundane day-to-day. They are truly each other's "person."  A self-taught artist and furniture maker, Tim was the owner/operator of Mauren Custom Furniture. Both the houses that he and Pat owned are filled with his artist's tough.

Tim was one of the first work-from-home/stay-at-home dads of the 1980's. He and Gabrielle spent time before school together struggling through spelling words and chatting over the special breakfasts he would make her. Later they filled uncountable hours as coach and player on the basketball court and soccer field.

A joy of his life was spending time with his granddaughter being silly, drawing, building Legos and watching her perform in theater. She shares his red hair and steely blue eyes, giving them a uniquely special connection.

A visitation will be held on September 29th from 5-7p at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel (15800 37th Ave N, Plymouth, MN 55446). A Catholic mass will take place at St. Jospeh Catholic Community (8701 36th Avenue N, New Hope, MN 55427) on September 30th at 11a with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery (8151 N 42nd Avenue, New Hope, MN 55427). 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Park Nicollet Hospice through the Park Nicollet Foundation (952-993-5023).
