Verna Mae Ricker was born October 3,1932 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Hans and Minnie Andersen. She spent her years growing up part of a big family being the seventh of eight kids. In 1950 she married Lloyd (Buzz) Ricker in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. They were married for 67 years until his death in 2018. When Lloyd was discharged from the service they returned to Kenosha and started their family of ten children. After a brief time in Battle Creek, MI they moved to Plymouth, Minnesota in 1971 and she has lived there ever since.
Once all the kids were in school Verna started working as a bookkeeper at First National Bank of Wayzata. She was Vice President of Bookkeeping by the time she and Lloyd retired. In retirement they spent part of their time in Hawaii and several years wintering in Florida. She loved spending time playing Scrabble, doing the daily crossword puzzles, knitting (each grandchild received an afghan at high school graduation) and gardening (many shelves were filled with all her canned goods).
Most of all she loved spending time with family. She always had time for a cup of coffee or tea along with a sweet treat.
Verna passed away at home on December 1, 2025. She is survived by her ten children:
David (Pamela); Darryl (Lynn); Catherine; Cherryl (Greg); Carol (David); Daniel (Pamela); Connie (Bruce); Dennis; Carla; Donald; 21 Grandchildren; 30 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild and her sister Carol
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and her grandson Michael.
Verna will be forever in our hearts. While we will miss her deeply we know she is at peace.
We Love you Mom.
