Virginia Elsie Thurler

Virginia "Ginnie" Elsie Thurler (Citrowske) passed away on November 4, 2026 at her home in Brooklyn Park after her courageous and faith-filled journey with cancer for the past 2 ½ years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor to many.

Ginnie was born on June 11, 1938 in St. Leo, MN, daughter of Lawrence and Viola Citrowske (Hentges). She married Robert "Bob" Thurler on May 17, 1958 and was married almost 64 years before Bob's death on March 18, 2022.

Ginnie is survived by sons, Gregory (Suzanne), Thomas, Steven (Louise), grandson, Joshua, her sister, Janet Lems, brother-in-law, Craig VanderVlies, nieces & nephews, many cousins, friends and neighbors. 

Preceded in death by parents, sisters, Ines Citrowske and Lois VanderVlies. 

Special thanks to Amada Home Health Care and North Memorial Hospice for their compassionate & spiritual care they gave to Ginnie.

 A Celebration of Life with Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on November 12, 2026 at the Church of St. Vincent De Paul, 9100 93rd Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN. Visitation at church prior to the Mass starting at 9:30 AM. Lunch will be served following the Mass. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
