Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on 3-26-17.
Preceded in death by parents William H. and Irene Weernink; and brother Donald Weernink.
Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Lola Weernink; children Linda Johnson, Bill Weernink (Kari), and Barbara Weernink; grandchildren Chris Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Kimberly Lamoureux (Johnny), Kaitlyn Weernink, William “Tyler” Weernink; great grandchildren Eligh Johnson and Everly Lamoureux; sister Joyce Zajac (Tom); sister-in-law Marie Weernink; also, close family friends, Bill Johnson, Danielle Bojan, and Brittany Tallman.
Bill loved golf, wood-carving, the great outdoors and being with family and friends, working a long career in printing ink sales and management and retiring from BASF and Louis O. Werneke Co.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Chester Bird American Legion 523. He was also a member of the Plymouth Woodcarving Club and Plymouth Senior Men’s Club, where he enjoyed spending time with friends.
He will be missed greatly by family and many longtime friends.
A private burial will take place following the service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
