William Vernon White

William Vernon White, age 72, of St Paul, MN, died on March 19, 2026, in Edina, MN of metastatic melanoma, with Hilary Sackett Crosbie by his side. He was born on February 11, 1954, in London, England to David Oliver Courtenay White and Barbara Winifred White (nee O’Sullivan).

William completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Mathematics at Imperial College London. From 1979 until he retired in 2017, William worked for Cray Inc, a premier designer and manufacturer of supercomputers, most recently as a Sales Operations Director. William’s broad smile, twinkling blue eyes, and clever British wit will forever be remembered. He made the world a better place with his extensive contributions to Alcoholics Anonymous and the Minnesota Opera.

William is survived by his daughter Caroline Elizabeth Wells (Adam), sister Elizabeth Neale, three nieces and nephews, former wives Jane White and Carla Kennedy, and friend emeritus and primary caregiver Hilary Sackett Crosbie.

Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave, Minneapolis; date to be determined. A livestream of the service will be available through https://www.westminstermpls.org.
