Wilma Jeanne (Zirglis) Litynski was born on December 17, 1947, to William and Rachel Zirglis in Cordova, Alaska. She spent most of the first twelve years of her life in Cordova. In 1959, when Alaska became a state, her family relocated because of her father's employment with the Federal Prison System. They settled in Sandstone, Minnesota.
Before Wilma Jeanne arrived to school in Sandstone, Paul Litynski heard that a new girl from Alaska would be joining their class and was excited to meet this Eskimo. Wilma Jeanne made many lifelong friendships wherever she went, but her Sandstone friends always held a special place in her heart. She remained in contact with many of them throughout her life.
After graduating from high school, Wilma Jeanne attended the University of Minnesota, where she majored in home economics. She often returned home to Sandstone on weekends, and it also happened, one of her former classmates was also in the Twin Cities and could give her a ride. That classmate was Paul Litynski.
Paul and Wilma Jeanne were married on June 10, 1972. Traditions were always important to Wilma Jeanne, and they chose to marry on the same date as both her parents and her grandparents.
Wilma Jeanne was blessed with four children and thrived in her role as a mother. She loved her children unconditionally and did everything she could to give them the best lives possible. In her final days, Mike tried to persuade her to name her favorite child. Wilma Jeanne refused to answer and kept changing the subject- she loved them all equally.
Wilma Jeanne worked for a time as a bookkeeper before spending many years with Target, both in its retail stores and at its corporate office. She concluded her working years as a bus aide for First Student.
Wilma Jeanne always loved a party or holiday celebration. During the last year or so of her life, even as Alzheimer's disease took its toll, she was often planning Christmas all year round when her children came to visit. She loved decorating her home for Christmas year-round and enjoyed the planning and preparation just as much as hosting family gatherings and celebrations.
Wilma Jeanne also loved going up north. She treasured memories of family trips to Judd's Resort and Lutsen, time spent at Mark's, and family camping trips at Birch Lake.
Wilma Jeanne Litynski passed away in the early morning of September 26, 2026 in Robbinsdale, MN surrounded by her loving family.
Wilma Jeanne will be deeply missed by her husband, Paul Litynski; her children, Matthew (Lori), Michael (Kristin), Mark (Heather) Litynski, and Jennifer (Allan) Litynski; her grandchildren, Grant (Sophia), Kathryn, Wyatt, Ella, and Ian Litynski; her brother, William Oz; her in-laws, Ruth (Curt) Olson, Pete Litynski, and John (Jolene) Litynski; and her many nephews, a niece, and dear friends. Her love, warmth, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Rachel Zirglis; her grandson, Elisha Litynski; her sister-in-law, Mary Oz; and her nephew, Maxfield Oz.
Interment will be at Spring Park Cemetery, in Sandstone, MN.
