Obituary

Al was born to Arnold and Maybelle (Jensen) Moen and raised on a farm near Belgrade, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in education and a letter in wrestling. He earned a PhD in Education Administration from Penn State University. Al was Superintendent of Schools in Rockford School District # 883 for 26 years, retiring in 1998. Throughout his life he touched the lives of many people as husband, father, brother, son, friend, athlete, coach, educator and volunteer. He was so proud of his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his four beautiful grandchildren. Survived by wife of 49 years, Sally (Van Heuvelen); son, David (Cindy) Moen; daughter, Julie (Mark) Hanson; grandchildren, Garrett, Nicholas, Quinn, Liv; sister, Avis Herrick; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
