Obituary

DeLores LaVern (Meyer) Holman
Born 8-22-1939 in Jamestown, North Dakota

DeLores was the youngest of five children and grew up on the family farm located 9 miles SE of Gackle, ND. She graduated from Gackle High School and Dakota Business College in Fargo ND. While at the business college she met the love of her life, Arthur (Bud) Holman. They married on 11-8-1959 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle, ND. They moved to Fargo where and had two boys, Duane, and Mark. They moved to St. Louis Park, MN on 3-31-1962. A couple of years later she gave birth to their daughter Linda. She lived in their home until 9-26-2022 when she moved to Knollwood Place Apartments. She was a stay-at-home mom and neighborhood taxi. Shuttling neighborhood kids (Freemans, Larsons, and Zimmermans) to and from activities. She was a very loving, caring person. Her family came first. She was very proud of her three children, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, eight nephews and seven nieces. If they ever needed anything, she was there. She learned how to make Lefsa from her mother-in-law and brought that knowledge to Westwood Lutheran Church where she was a key player in making lefsa for their annual hobby fair. She also taught her children and grandchildren how to make it. It was an annual tradition, the weekend after Thanksgiving, to make about 16 batches for Christmas to hand out to family and friends. Another one of her joys was washing dishes at church. She did this for many years until this spring when her health did not allow her to do it anymore. She enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music. On her last day, we were listening to polka music when her niece, Bonnie, told her it was time for the chicken dance. Even though she couldn’t talk, you could see her moving her toes under the covers. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her brother, Herbert Meyer (Lill); sister, Evelyn Ammon (Melvin); kids, Duane Holman (Angie), Mark Holman and Linda Foster. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Olga Meyer; sister, Ruby; husband, Arthur Holman; brother, Harry (Luella) Meyer and niece, Cynthia Willey.
