Jorand M. Braford

Braford, Jorand M. Braford, age 79 of Plymouth, MN, passed away July 28, 2022. Jorand was born April 29, 1943 in Deadwood, SD, to Vernon and Diana Tollefson.

Jorand, called “Randi” by her many friends, was a longtime chemistry, science and math teacher with the Grand Forks, ND, Public Schools. Independent, smart and creative, she was a passionate advocate who valued education, science, equality, faith and the arts. She was an expert gardener, and also loved to sing and perform. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed everything from her own wedding dress to costumes for her grandkids. She began quilting in retirement and created hundreds of beautiful quilts and quilted art, many of which were given to family and friends. These works of art are treasured reminders of her passion, artistic ability, and love.

Jorand often said that marrying Larry Braford was the best decision she ever made. She adored her grandchildren and spent time with them whenever she could. Her passion, strength, talent, intelligence and curiosity lives on in them.

She told her family many times throughout her final months that she wanted us not to be sad when her life was over, but to be happy that she was here. We are trying our best to fulfill this wish. We will cherish her memory in our hearts forever.

She is survived by husband, Larry; son, Andrew Braford (Holly); daughter Amy Braford Whittey (Brandon); grandchildren, Madeleine, Eleanor, and Axel (Whittey), and Delia (Braford); brother, Gary Tollefson of Orchard City, CO; sister, Selene Davis of Orofino, ID. Memorial service 1:00 pm Monday, Aug 8th at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, 15600 Old Rockford Road, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials gratefully accepted by the St. Barnabas Quilters Fund.
