Odelia Leona (Cebulla) Aguirre

Odelia (Nee Cebulla) Aguirre

Age 91, of St.Paul

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 18, 2023. Preceded in death by husband William (Bill), parents Fredrick and Mary Cebulla, siblings Daniel, Severen (died in infancy), Lorraine (Johnson), Violet (Buhl), James and Janice (Chandler). Survived by children Mary (Craig) Coe, Bernard (Cheryl), Anthony (Barbara), Carlos (Angi), John (Brenda), Bernadette (John) Zwak, Bert and Francis (Michele); siblings Mary Schendel, Ivan Cebulla , Marlene St Clair, Laura Gregory and Joe Cebulla; 20 grandchildren Michael, Christy, Jason, Rachael, Jennifer, Cynthia, Anna, Matthew, Anthony Jr, Madison, MacKenzie, Luke, Joseph, Thomas, Sophie, William, Claire, Nicholas, Patrick, Evan; 24 great grandchildren. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Odelia was born to Fred and Mary Cebulla in Browerville, Minnesota. She was the 6th of 12 children. After graduating from high school, she eventually moved and joined her sisters in St. Paul where she met and married William and lived most of her life.

She was married to William for 69 years and raised their family of 8 children in St. Paul.  In 1969 Odelia began working at the Toni Company later acquired by the Gillette Company first as factory line worker then as a custodian for most of her 26 years with the company. After she and her husband both retired, they moved to St. Cloud.

Odelia had many interests and hobbies and took many classes to learn more techniques or become more proficient. She took classes for sewing, upholstery, cake decorating, cooking, landscaping, computers and nutrition, to name a few.   She had a passion for sewing and made many varied items throughout her lifetime from clothes for her children and grandchildren to quilts and more. She also knitted, crocheted, and embroidered. Her work was impeccable, and many would often comment how she should enter her work in the State Fair, but she was far too humble. Odelia was a fantastic cook and would make huge feasts for her children and grandchildren whenever she knew they were coming.  She baked and decorated beautiful cakes and cookies, she made wonderful pies, especially lemon meringue, she liked to bake coffee cakes with her sisters and many people were the happy recipients of her work.  Not knowing how to do something never got in Odelia’s way, she learned how to drive, swim, and ski when she was well into her 30’s, and she continued to stay active throughout her life.

Most importantly, Odelia was a humble servant of God, and was devoted to her Catholic faith.  Her legacy will be the faith she passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Odelia was beloved by many and will be greatly missed.
