Our lovely mother, Shirley Clepper, peacefully passed away in her home on January 18 at 88 years of age. She lived a strong and healthy life with no pain.

Shirley was born in 1934 to Donald and Pearle Fenlason in central Minnesota. Joyous memories from her childhood included farming with her father, singing lessons supported by her mother, and family time with siblings Don Jr., Veryl, and Karolyn. Shirley invested in education for herself and many young people. After graduating from St. Cloud Technical high school at the age of 16, Shirley went on to study at State Teachers College, in St. Cloud, Minnesota and earned her Masters degree in Special Education from Mankato State University in 1979.

Shirley taught for Ely Public Schools for three years, then relocated to the Twin Cities and taught 4th grade, then special education in Robbinsdale Public Schools. In the 1940's, Shirley met Loren at the Missionary Alliance Church in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, and they wed in 1959. They had three children, Keith, Katherine, and Kurt. Shirley made it her mission to improve the lives of others. She was a fantastic and wonderful mother, who excelled at supporting her family through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. That includes supporting Loren through taking care of his mother. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, Shirley could be found singing at weddings and funerals and with the Plymouth Rockers.

We all will miss her greatly.

Shirley was predeceased in death by her parents, husband and all of her brothers and sisters. Shirley is survived by children, Keith (Janelle), Katherine (Jim) Biskey, Kurt (Karen); grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Van Clepper and Max Clepper, Samuel Clepper and Asa Clepper, step-grandchildren, Sean, Tony and Drew Biskey; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be a memorial service at GEARTY-DELMORE FUNERAL CHAPEL, Plymouth, Minnesota at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 11, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and there will be a reception following. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to the funeral home.
