Elaine M. May

Elaine Marie (Bergquist) May, 83, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, was born in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota on January 7, 1938 and passed away on May 4, 2021 near her home in Minnetonka, Minnesota.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth; her husband, Harvey; and sibling, Dennis Bergquist.

She is survived by their three children; DeeAnn (Michael) Stinebaugh, Timothy (Stephanie), Todd (Kristen Martin), and eight grandchildren: Elizabeth, Abigail, and Emily Stinebaugh; Theodore, Charles, and Henry May; and Grainne and Sylvie May. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Bergquist; sister, Jennifer (Rolland) Roers; her brother-in-law, Elmer May; sister-in-law, Patty Utsch; and many loving nieces, nephews, and precious friends.

Elaine graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1955, attended Saint Cloud School of Nursing, and shortly thereafter moved to Colorado where she initially met Harvey May. A few years later in Minnesota she had a chance encounter with Harvey, which led to a devoted 55-year marriage with three children. Elaine was known for her kindness and compassion.She was the on-call neighborhood nurse, school nurse, and loving mother and grandmother. She maintained friends from throughout her life – too many to note here but all close to her heart.  She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday May 8, at 10 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 155 County Road 24, in Medina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated for Children’s Cancer Research Fund, 7301 Ohms Lane, Suite 355, Minneapolis, MN 55439.
