Joseph Tomko Obituary

Joseph Tomko, age 83 of Golden Valley, passed away suddenly on 8/1/21. Joe was born June 25th, 1938 in Clairton Pennsylvania to parents Joseph Sr. and Anna Tomko. He graduated from Clairton High School and enlisted in the Air Force on November 2nd of 1959. He served in the Air Force for 4 years and 8 months as a medical specialist. In 1965, Joe began a long career at North Memorial Medical Center- serving in a variety of capacities. North Memorial is also where Joe met his wife of 54 years, Patty.
Family meant everything to Joe. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. Joe was an avid collector of many things- hats, watches, Jazz and classical CDs and packs of socks. In his retirement, Joe loved listening to music, reading, and spending time at “the office”. His friends at Pub 42 know just where “the office” is! Joe and his morning text message greetings will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Anna Tomko; and brother John Tomko.

He is survived by his wife, Patty; sons, David and Peter (Wendy); granddaughter, Paige; brothers, Robert, Regis, and Andrew; sister, Rita Contini; beloved nieces and nephews; and friends.
