No matter what you choose…..

burial is simply a form of final disposition. It’s the other things you do that determine whether a final tribute is meaningful, healing, personalized, and exactly what your family needs to grieve.

What Is Green Burial?

In recent years, families interested in choosing natural (or green) burial have become increasingly more prevalent. Natural burial offers opportunities for simplicity and purity as well as being friendly to the environment.

With natural burial, the body is often not embalmed, though eco-friendly embalming solutions are used for families requesting public viewing. The decedent can be wrapped in a biodegradable shroud or placed in a container made of natural materials, such as a willow basket or all-wood casket. Burial takes place at a cemetery that offers natural burial compliant gravesites.

We can help prepare your loved one for natural burial, including opportunities for a private or public viewing and visitation time, as desired. The purpose of a natural burial is to allow the body to return quickly and naturally to the elements of the earth and to begin the regeneration of new life. For this reason, the state of Minnesota requires that burial take place within six days if the decedent is not embalmed. Natural burial is presently the most eco-friendly disposition available in Minnesota.

Why is it important to have a meaningful, healing, and personalized funeral service?

Meaningful - When something has meaning, it has deeper purpose, deeper poignancy. By intentionally creating a meaningful service, you allow mourners - family, friends, neighbors - to say goodbye in a way that will help them heal and bring peace and comfort for years to come.

Healing - After the death of someone loved, you will experience feelings of grief. These emotions look different from person to person (sadness, anger, guilt, regret, shock, disbelief), but a meaningful service can help bring healing and comfort to a hurting heart.

Personalized - Above all, it’s essential to personalize a funeral service. Without personalization, you cannot create meaning or facilitate healing. Without personalization, you get a cookie-cutter experience instead of a one-of-a-kind final tribute.

Together, all three - meaningful, healing, and personalized - come together to create a truly unique funeral experience that will heal hurts, touch hearts, and help you say goodbye to a truly unique and irreplaceable person.
